Call for Exhibition and Performance Proposals
Washington State University Department of Fine Arts is seeking proposals. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis. Solo artists, artist groups, curators, scholars, and performers are encouraged to apply. The gallery is at Washington State University’s Department of Art in Pullman, Washington. Gallery 2 has 900 square feet of space with approximately 75 linear feet of wall space.
A primary goal of our exhibition programming is to introduce to students the myriad forms artistic practices take. We are especially excited about proposals that are collaborative, interdisciplinary, community-engaged, and contemporary. We are seeking proposals for solo exhibitions, two and three person exhibitions, group exhibitions, curatorial projects, performances, and scholars that may benefit from sharing their research with our students and community. In addition to the exhibition, the selected candidate will present one public lecture in an auditorium near gallery 2, participate in seminars and one-on-one critiques, have the opportunity to be interviewed for a departmental podcast, and share an informal meal with MFA and BFA students. Artists are provided an honorarium. Other expenses (travel, shipping, etc.) are occasionally covered on a case-by-case basis depending on available departmental funds.
The Space
Gallery II is a space in the Department of Art at Washington State University. Recently renovated, the gallery features overhead track lights, a new floor, and a retractable wall. Walls are 16’ tall and are weight-bearing. The space has many outlets. We have a small committee consisting of academic student employees and faculty that will work with you on-site to install your work. We do not have gallery staff or insurance. However, the gallery has one window facing the art office and will be locked after hours.
