SUMMARY:'Body of Water' Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition: Body of Water – Dennis DeHart & Sarah Schorr\nIn this cross-sea collaboration\, two artists visually explore their own physicality in water. Through individual approaches that run in dialogue between the united states and Denmark\, this exhibition follows the body in water. Through installing work to emphasize the conversation between the two installation spaces\, Sarah Schorr and Dennis DeHart chart their experience with the confines and expanses of the body above and underwater. \nOpening Reception August 26 at 4:30pm \nFine Arts Gallery 2\, Pullman Campus

SUMMARY:Jacob Riddle Artist Talk & Reception
DESCRIPTION:The Fine Arts Department presents an exhibition of work by Jacob Riddle\, Assistant Professor\, Career Track\, in Digital Technology and Culture. \nJacob Riddle is an interdisciplinary artist\, educator\, and curator. Jacob’s work deals with ideas surrounding labor\, class\, automation\, value\, capital\, physicality\, virtuality\, and the natural world. Jacob has exhibited his work and been Artist in Residence nationally and internationally including Flaggfabrikken\, Bergen\, Norway; Arteles\, Haukijärvi\, Finland; Rodbianco\, Oslo\, Norway; École Supérieure d’Art d’Avignon\, Avignon\, France; Tele Vision\, Sydney Australia; Dom Funkcjonalny\, Warsaw\, Poland; Contemporary Art Center\, Cincinnati\, Ohio\, Babylon Contemporary\, Kansas City\, Missouri.. Jacob’s work is held in the collections of the Rhizome Art Base at the New Museum and PAMAL at École Supérieure d’Art d’Avignon. \nIn DPM∧GAN\, with generative images of camouflage\, Jacob Riddle utilizes technologies designed to mimic the natural world to break down the dichotomy between the natural and technological. These camouflage patterns act as targets that instead of concealing a subject reveal another layer of the work visible through augmented reality. \nDisruptive Pattern Material (DPM) is a description of the function of camouflage. Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) is a class of machine learning frameworks that is frequently used to generate images. Machine learning is often referred to as artificial intelligence (AI). Both of these technologies began and to some extent are defined by their imitation of the natural world. \nJoin us for an interactive artist talk on October 7\, 2021! \n+ Artist Talk on October 7 at 4:30pm Pacific in the Fine Arts Auditorium 5062\, Pullman Campus \n+ Reception to follow at 5:30pm in Fine Arts Gallery \n+ On view September 30 – October 27\, 2021

SUMMARY:'Traces' Graduate Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Fine Arts presents an exhibition of graduate work on view November 8-19 in Fine Arts Gallery 2. \n‘Traces’ features a variety of works by WSU’s MFA graduate students. Each artist deconstructs and reconstructs pieces from a larger body or from past experience in order to provide the viewer a frame into a larger narrative. Sullivan\, and Allen Vu. \nJoin us Tuesday\, November 9 at 4:30pm for a reception & refreshments!
