TRIBUTTE
A pop-up group exhibition of provisional art works created at Kamiak Butte and the Palouse
For this show, MFA graduate students enrolled in FA 555 Critical Practices go to Kamiak Butte with minimal materials. Artists are asked to respond to the environment in an intuitive manner for approximately three hours, working mostly in groups. In the following days, artists edit and organize their ideas for installation. The result is a quirky and quick tribute to the Butte and surrounding landscape. Additionally, for this show artists will be presenting a collaborative zine: Hidden Gems of the Palouse for Contemporary Artists, Volume 1. Taken together, these works showcase the ways severe restrictions in time and location can foster collaboration, curiosity and ingenuity.
